Dr. Edginton has been in practice since graduating from The National
University of Health Sciences in 2001. He has a Bachelor of Science in
Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo in Ontario Canada, and
a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the National College of
Chiropractic. He is certified in MDT, more commonly known as the
McKenzie Method. In October 2014 he was accredited by the federal
government as a Registered Medical Examiner for the Department of
Transportation.
Since graduating from Chiropractic school, Dr. Chris has worked in a
mix of hospital settings, in private practice alongside medical
colleagues, and in Chiropractic clinics with Physical Therapy services.
This variety has lent itself to a wide variety of patient experiences
and conditions treated, from sports injuries to chronic aches and pains
to spinal disc herniations.
Specific to the American Back Center, Dr. Chris has years experience
with VaxD Spinal Decompression, which is a non-surgical treatment for
herniated spinal discs in the neck and low back. His VaxD patients are
often looking to avoid surgery. He has treated discs that cause mild but
chronic pain to extruded discs that are often more acute and severely
painful. Dr. Chris’ approach often uses a combination of VaxD and
Physical Therapy for maximum results.
With his additional training in Acupuncture and Athletic Taping
protocols, and his experience with a multi-disciplinary approach, Dr.
Chris’ treatment is customized to the patient and presentation. While
the Chiropractic adjustment remains the most integral part
of a patient’s treatment, ancillary treatments over and above the
adjustment get his patients better, quicker.
- Some of these ancillary treatments (and conditions) include:
- Flexion-Distraction technique
- Integration with Holistic Nutritional Counseling for a whole-health approach
- Kinesiotaping method
- Acupuncture, with a focus on facial pain and paralysis (ie. Bell’s palsy, Trigeminal neuralgia, sinus pain)
- Pregnancy-related back pain
- Treatment of vertigo using the Epley maneuver
- Extremity pain and Chiropractic adjustments of extremities
- Custom molded orthotics for foot, knee and pelvic re-alignment and stability
- Pre-Surgical consultation/second opinion
Dr. Chris has been a Chiropractic patient himself since high school.
Suffering from childhood asthma and allergies, he started seeing Dr.
George Moore for Chiropractic adjustments as a teenager. Along with diet
modifications and regular Chiropractic adjustments, the asthma and
allergies resolved. Dr. Chris remains inspired by Dr. Moore’s enthusiasm
for Chiropractic, and emulates this passion towards healing in his own
practice. In his free time, Dr. Chris enjoys spending time with his wife –
also a Chiropractor – and two young children, playing guitar with his
band, and exercising. He believes himself to be very funny.
